This surely is a different way of life - you can't beat it - and we love it! Quite remarkably it seems a perfectly natural way
to live - though I admit to occasionally having the strangest fleeting moment
of wondering quite how we ended up roaming about on 4 wheels with no fixed
abode!
Only by realising our dream of taking to the open road am I
beginning to grasp the enormity of the implications and delights this way of
life brings. Nothing could have prepared
me for this change in lifestyle - how I'd react and feel, the emotions I'd
experience.
It's such a carefree and easy life - the biggest decision we have to
make is where we go next and which site we fancy - or shall we wild camp
perhaps? ('dry' camp as the Americans call
it).
Once we recognise the same pothole in the road we know it's time to
move on - nothing becomes over familiar - every day brings us new delights.
We have everything we need on board so what was all that 'stuff' I
had around me all those years which, after a huge clear out, still fills 3
containers back in West Sussex? Be
interesting to see when we set up home again whether I still feel the need to
be surrounded by all that 'stuff'!! This is a simple, uncluttered life and we lack
for nothing.
If you ever have the same opportunity and even remotely consider
doing the same, I can only say: "go for it!" - it's amazing and
you'll never regret it. Take off whenever
and to wherever the fancy takes you - just remember to lock the cupboards
otherwise the first touch of the brakes and it's the week's cereal and contents
of fruit bowl strewn across the across the floor! Oh, and close the roof vents otherwise it's
showers of natural rain in the shower room - managed to forget that one on a
particularly rainy journey!
Do you recognise that niggly feeling when just having driven off for a day out that you've left something
behind? We have laughed at ourselves more
than once when we've had that thought and remembered nothing is further away than behind our 2 seats! Strange how thought patterns are so hard to
break!
Much to our delight we discovered there is no trespass rule in
Scotland which makes for total freedom of travel and parking overnight wherever
we wish with the best views we can find - and there are plenty of those!
This indeed is a holiday without end..............................
